Unbreak the break

Since a few month ago I'm in a sort of break/reset, so I did quit my main job and left the city I used to live in for wonder a bit around the world, and so far it went quite well and I had some good fun.

The break I did plan was also including an "electronic break" that means that I went traveling with "limited electronics", which in practice mean I left my main laptop at home and I did travel with devices that are not bigger than a phone, this is strange for me, I lived the good part of the last 20 years sitting in front of a screen mostly working on software projects, and having few months laptop-less has been also good, and I did have time to enjoy other things in life, that I was enjoying also before, but now full time!

Life anyway caught back, users of project I was working on before the break asked me to help them, and I did notice that It would have been good to have "breaks" in my new lifestyle where I did my "usual life" maybe with a "2:5" factor instead of "5:2" I was having before (OK ... to understand this, 7 days in a week, do software things 2 days and other things 5 days), which is quite healthy anyway, even the most enjoyable thing after 5 days in a row it becomes a lot!

So now I'm bracing and restarting, I will keep going on pausing my usual lifestyle for a while but not in an extreme way as before, and I will keep some things running in background so users can rely on me, and also, I had that lifestyle before because I enjoyed it, so it does make sense to keep it around.

Anyway a short version of this blog post will be: "next trip I will bring a (gnu/)linux laptop with me !"

A more useful information is: if you are using any of the open source(and non) software I worked on, and you need help you can get in touch with me, the mail is easy, is tglman on this domain, and is practically everywhere, or just look for tglman on chats, you may find me there.
